Chulita is an Alta-California-style modern Mexican restaurant and mezcal/tequila bar born in the heart of Venice Beach, now brining botanas y mezcales, or Mexican drinking food to your local neighborhood. Chulita currently has locations in Venice and West Adams.
Our cozy space is a true neighborhood locale, evoking the character and traditions of Mexico interwoven with the distinctive essence of each location’s surrounding community. Our mezcal and tequila-based cocktails combined with our collection of shareable dishes honor the spirit of authentic Mexican cuisine.

Local-Californian yet authentically Mexican. Modern in approach yet deeply rooted in tradition. We believe that better farming yields better flavor. Chulita proudly sources its produce from the Santa Monica Farmer’s Market, supporting producers and their families throughout the state and serving the freshest organic ingredients possible. We also bring together a curated collection of organic, hormone- and antibiotic-free meats and local seafood.
Our tortillas are hand made and pressed from scratch, so we went searching for masa with exceptional flavor and integrity. We are proud to use Masienda Heirloom Corn from farmers in Oaxaca, Mexico, whose families have been cultivating traditional maize for centuries. All partner farms retain their independence and continue our shared mission for agricultural biodiversity and sustainability.

For all sips and saluds, our heart lives within the deep traditions of the Aztecs. House-made tepache finds its match with our infused Serrano Mezcal, while all tequilas and mezcals on our shelves are traditionally distilled in small batches from a selection of artisanal Mexican palenques.
